HOW TO USE THE PEIKCOL SOFTWARE

It allows the user to design concrete columns quickly. All shapes and sizes of Precast & Cast in Place columns. It enables you to optimize the cross sections reinforcements and Version 2.36 now comes with all the Canadian materials such as reinforced steel and typical concrete strength.

The New Peikcol software also allows the designer to optimize the base connection of the columns in a few seconds. Several column shoes combination can be checked in no time. The Peikcol interface helps the designer to see any conflicts between connections.

Once all the reinforcements and connection combinations have been identified, Peikcol will calculate all the interaction curves (axial and moment) of the column cross sections and of the joint cross section. According to CSA A23.3-04, the designer then has to specify the factored loads applied on the column. These values will then appear on the interaction curve. If the dot of the factor loading is inside the curve the design is acceptable.

Once the designer has optimized the design, Peikcol will produce a report indicating all the considerations taken into account in the design such as area and location of reinforcing steel, safety factor, figures of the selected cross sections, optimize combinations of column shoes and final inter-curve.
