Peikko delivers 2.8 km of DELTABEAM® to a school campus project in Kurikka, Finland

Peikko Group’s Finnish subsidiary Peikko Finland Oy has received an order for a new school campus to be built in Kurikka, Finland. The order comprises 2.8 kilometers of DELTABEAM® Slim Floor Structure and hidden PCs Corbels to connect the beams to the concrete columns. The deliveries are scheduled between February and May 2017. The campus will be finished in autumn 2018 and the school work will commence in January 2019.

The Kurikka school campus is a remarkable project for the region. The size of the new construction is 12,000 m2. One existing school building will be left on the plot and it will be completely renovated. The campus will comprise light, open, and modifiable learning environments. Notable in this project is that there will be a high school and vocational school under one roof. Altogether 800 people will be studying in the premises. Outside school hours the premises serve as sports, event and concert facilities for the entire community. The project is developed by the City of Kurikka and Seinäjoki Joint Municipal Authority for Education. The architectural design has been made by Arkkitehdit Siistonen Oy, the structural design by A-insinöörit Oy, and WasaCon Oy is responsible for the construction.

“We are glad that Peikko is involved in this great school campus project. Our DELTABEAM® Slim Floor Structure enables cost efficient, open and flexible spaces as well as demanding façade shapes, which were highly valued in this architecturally challenging project”, states Esa Rusila, Managing Director of Peikko Finland Oy.
