Riding on the wind

During 2008, Peikko started development of a standardized foundation system for wind turbine towers. Peikko's offering includes anchor rings, tension bars, top rings of foundation construction, very demanding welded wind turbine tower adapters, and assembly templates.

Peikko is able to provide customers a complete solution manufactured according to the quality & speedy delivery principles the company learnt during its participation in the build-up of the Finnish nuclear power plant OL3 in 2005-2009. During the summer of 2009, Peikko has also dedicated capacity designed for the manufacturing of these foundation parts.

Safe Foundations for Wind Turbines

One of the first projects delivered by Peikko was ten wind turbine tower foundations, a total of 120 ton of steel, to the company Dynawind AB in Sweden. The project is located in the beautiful fell of Uljabuouda, in the Arjeplog community in the Swedish Lapland. The end customer and the operator of the wind turbines will be Skellefteå Kraft AB, the fourth largest energy producer in Sweden.

The wind farm at Uljabuouda will consist of a total of ten wind turbines with a total annual production of 80 GWh. The farm will supply electricity to more than 3000 homes and will be taken into use during 2010. Uljabuouda is the first major wind farm built in the Swedish mountains.
