Cost-efficient composite frames - save time and money
In the construction business, time is money. Key questions often presented include how soon the building can be finished and how the construction could be made faster. The more in-situ casting with complex formwork is needed, the more challenging the schedules can become.
Short spans restrict architectural freedom, and use of too many columns limits flexibility in layout arrangements throughout the building’s life cycle. Shopping centers face a particular need for constant layout adjustments. Estate developers value the capability of easily adjusting the spaces according to the needs of the users or even changing the purpose of use of the building.
The full composite frames offered by Peikko are lightweight and quick to install. Columns and Deltabeams offer a perfect match thanks to standardized connection details. Various kinds of profiles can be used for columns.
How does the Peikko solution work?
A column is fixed to anchor bolts, which are cast into the structure below the column. Fixing is achieved with nuts and washers screwed to the anchor bolts. It is also possible to adjust the column at the correct level and vertical position. Steel columns are cast full from bottom to top. Deltabeams are connected to columns either with bolts or via welding. Precast slabs are installed, or formwork for in-situ slabs is made before casting. Deltabeams are filled with the same concrete or grout needed for slabs. When hardened, the concrete and Deltabeam forms a composite structure that is able to carry all of the necessary loads. Composite columns and Deltabeams don’t need external fire-protection, thanks to their internal reinforcement.
