Peikko's Composite Frame chosen for YIT's office project in Lahti, Finland

YIT develops a 7-story 7500 m2 office building named BW Tower in Lahti. The BW Tower will be situated next to the new railway and bus terminal center currently under construction. The frame of the building is made with Peikko’s Composite Frame solution. The structural design of the project is made by Finnmap Consulting.

The Composite Frame solution delivered by Peikko Group’s Finnish subsidiary Peikko Finland comprises 1.3 kilometers of DELTABEAMs and 100 tons of other frame components, such as Composite Columns and other steel structures. Peikko Finland is also responsible of the erection of the frame. Deliveries start in October and the frame erection will be completed by March 2015. The building will be finished by November 2015. BW Tower’s tenants will be the technical office of the City of Lahti, and YIT’s Lahti office.

”Peikko’s Composite Frame has proven to be a flexible and fast way to construct the frame of an office building. BW Tower is a significant project in Lahti close to the new railway and bus terminal center. The Peikko Composite Frame consisting of DELTABEAMs and composite columns enables a slim-floor structure, which again enables higher room height without increasing the total height of the building”, states Esa Rusila, Managing Director of Peikko Finland Oy.
