Peikko delivered Gravity Foundation Technology for the Ajos Wind Park project, North-West Finland. The project consists of 13 wind turbines provided by Siemens turbine manufacturer.

Peikko’s solution comprised of all necessary elements for Gravity Foundation. In addition, Peikko was responsible for calculations and foundation design.

The Ajos project is consisted of ten wind turbines on artificial islands in the sea and along the shore. Peikko is also responsible for the foundation design and structural calculations. The earth's five wind turbines have a capacity of 3.2 MW and a rotor diameter of 113 meters. The breakwater and artificial islands will have a capacity of 3.3 MW and a rotor diameter of 130 meters.

An existing Ajos wind farm on the coast of Kemi was renewed and expanded. The wind farm is a so-called repowering project and the first of its kind in Finland. Ajos project was IKEA’s first wind power investment on the Finnish market and the contract was the fourth between OX2 and IKEA.

Originally, there were ten older wind turbines here, located on artificial islands offshore and along the shoreline. These have been replaced by 13 modern wind turbines: 8 X Siemens SWT-130 3.3 MW offshore and 5 X Siemens SWT-113 3.2 MW onshore (total 42.4 MW).
