Skanderborg Municipality has built a new school and daycare centre in Ry, creating a new everyday setting for children, staff and the local community.
The new school is designed with flexible spaces for three classes per year group from preschool class to grade 6, with capacity for approximately 450 to 500 pupils and around 50 staff members. The daycare centre will accommodate approximately 50 nursery children, 100 kindergarten children and 35 to 40 staff members.
The project was carried out by Nordstern as turnkey contractor in collaboration with AFRY and C.F. Møller Architects. A strong focus was placed on creating functional and flexible facilities with a low carbon footprint.
For the project, BESISTA® Rod System was selected to brace structures such as stair towers, pergolas and bicycle shelters. As these structures are visible elements of the building, the project required a solution that could meet the technical requirements while supporting a clean and aesthetic architectural expression.
BESISTA® Rod System provides elegant bracing that integrates well with the architecture. The hot-dip galvanized finish also ensures high durability, making the solution well suited for outdoor structures designed to last for many years.
The cross bracing was supplied in collaboration with Simpson Strong-Tie, which adapted its BNG60 connection bracket to fit the bolt in the fork connector of the BESISTA® system.
