Peikko has supplied Gravity Foundation Technology for the Torkkola Wind Park, located near Vaasa, West Finland. The project consists of 16 newest turbines from Vestas with a hub height of 137 meters.

Peikko is responsible for the foundation design and structural calculations as well as installation on site. The deliveries comprise all the necessary steel parts from Peikko’s Gravity Foundation solution. The solution from Peikko saves on materials used and decreases the total CO₂ emissions.

The development of Torkkola Wind Park is performed by Finnish wind power company EPV Tuulivoima Oy. EPV Wind Power Ltd. was founded in 2007 for conducting wind power projects especially in Ostrobothnia region of Finland, aiming to develop a more environmentally friendly energy production. The construction of the wind park is to be implemented at a rapid pace. The foundations for the wind turbines will be laid in May and the turbines will be shipped in the autumn. Wind power is expected to flow to customers as of summer 2015.

The wind park is to be the largest one in Finland for the year 2014, with the annual production of electricity up to 150 GWh. Such amount is accounted for nearly 20 percent of the total electricity produced from wind power in Finland in 2013.
